Bi-weekly Reflections 2009 - Week 46 & 47

"Bi-Weekly Reflections" is my small journal of events that have gone on throughout the last 2 weeks that I've decided to keep. New updates to this will (hopefully) be posted as soon as possible. Also remember to check out my Tumblr for links, pictures, videos and articles that I found around the Internet that I liked or found interesting.
11/22 - ?
11/23-25 Work
11/25 - Was able to leave early since the office was pretty quiet and most of us were anxious to leave for the 4-day holiday anyway. It was nice being able to head officially home early, but that just meant that I would need to start on the cheesecakes that I was going to bring to Thanksgiving dinner the next day.
The cheesecakes turned out to be a semi-fail. The first problem was that I had to make the Oreo cookie crust, which proved to be a little more difficult than I had originally imagined. Then, after lining the pan, I found that I had too much filling for the 9-inch circular pie pans that I was using, so I had to quickly make another pie crust in another pie pan and pour the extra filling into that. Then I found that I had not added enough sugar to the filling and had to scoop as much of the filling out of the pies as possible and add back the sugar that I had forgotten. Seeing as how I destroyed one of the pie crusts scooping the filling out, I had to recreate yet another crust in another pie pan. In the end the pies came out pretty good, but still ended up with more headache than I originally expected.
11/26 - Thanksgiving was spent at my grandparent's house where I enjoyed the company of my family members as we laughed and had a good time in each other's company. Towards the evening I left to visit Ashley and her family at her dad's house, but unfortunately I arrived a little too late in the evening and they had just wound down for the night. I ended up staying the night there, but knew I had to wake up semi-early to return to the apartment and get ready to go start my Christmas shopping.
11/27-29 - Spent the weekend getting the Christmas stuff ready, where Ashley and I finally got our own Christmas tree up and decorated! Although I did make the mistake of trying to go Christmas shopping on Black Friday, I did end up getting a few things for Ashley. Small stuff, but a few nonetheless. We also had Ashley's little sister over as reward for the hard work & help that she put in on Thanksgiving. It was a bit hectic with her, being that she's got ADHD and a defiance issue, but it wasn't too horrible.
11/30-12/4 - Work
12/2 - Today was our anniversary on having been together for 4 years. Unfortunately I had to work and Ashley was at her dad's house, but, as only a gentleman would do, I bought her a boquet of roses and went to her house to give them to her in person. In fact, the night before, I had written a blog post reminiscing about how I landed that first date with her, and how socially awkward I was (though not much has changed), and I stayed up pretty late to write it to boot.
12/3 - Since Ashley wasn't at the apartment on our anniversary, we instead chose to go out to eat at Love Boat today, and it was pretty wild that we ended up sitting at the same exact spot that we had on our first date, and also went to Starbucks like we had that night too. Overall, it was a pretty pleasant night.
12/4 - Ashley & I had dinner at my parent's house and overall had a good time while we were there, talking about what's been happening and what will be happening for Christmas and stuff.
12/5 - Ashley woke me up earlier than I wanted to so that we could go shopping, which we did and where I managed to get a good portion of my Christmas list crossed-off. We continued to go shopping at the mall, and even had lunch at Red Robin (again, in a seat that we had sit at before). It was a good day, but I was left exhausted since I hadn't been getting much good sleep lately.
