Bi-weekly Reflections 2009 - Week 32 & 33

"Bi-Weekly Reflections" is my small journal of events that have gone on throughout the last 2 weeks that I've decided to keep. New updates to this will (hopefully) be posted as soon as possible.
On Sunday (8/16), we decided to go to my aunt's house to for a get-together with the rest of my family and had a good time, where we also got to play the Wii Sports Resort for the first time. The rest of the week (8/17-21) went along just fine, with nothing special to add except that I had been working the entire time. However, Saturday (8/22) was pretty interesting: I did almost nothing the entire day. What makes this interesting is how the day went: I first woke up at 8am (a small summer rain outside had woken me up), fell back to sleep, woke up again at about 11:30am, ate brunch, watched some TV for a while and cleaned a few things around the apartment, fell back to sleep, woke up again around 4:30p, watch some more TV, helped make dinner, watched TV until about 11:30p, then fell back to sleep.
Sunday (8/23), on the other hand, was a bit more productive, as Ashley & I ran around doing errands. We first went to the mall to pick up Ashley's jewelry that had broken while we were in Las Vegas, then went to Souplantation for lunch. Finally we went grocery shopping and came back to the apartment to do our laundry.
8/24-8/27 - Work
On Friday (8/28), I had worked from home and decided that I'd try to see how long I could stand the heat in my apartment since I didn't want to turn on the air conditioner to save on electricity. I managed to make it until the temperature was about 91 in the apartment before I said it was too much and turned it on. During my lunch break, I also called CSUSM to see about where my diploma was, which they responded that my "degree had been posted" (whatever that meant), and that the actual diploma was "in the mail." Later on that evening, Ashley & I went to Souplantation again and afterward went to see Inglorious Basterds. I have to admit that it was a very good movie, but like most Quentin Tarantino movies, it was a little strange in places. Just before seeing the movie, though, I decided to go out and buy Wii Sports Resort as well as a second Wii Motion Plus for Ashley's Wiimote so that we could play the games together after having fun playing it with my family last Sunday (8/16).
Sunday (8/29) was a bit of a special day for Ashley & I as we had our first guests over for dinner at the apartment: my parents & my brother. I had invited them over to escape the heat and give them a chance to jump into the complex's pool, which they were delighted to do. Upon their arrival, my parents had told me that just before heading out to the apartment they had stopped at the mailbox at the house and had received a large hard letter envelope. Opening I found that I had finally received my diploma for my B.S. in Computer Science! It was definitely a cause for celebration and was just coincidental that I had already had my parents over for dinner. After dinner, we all went to the pool to relax and talk for a while, and when we returned we played some Wii Sports Resort and had a lot of fun before my parents called it quits for the night and left around 11pm.
