08 October 2006
Well, its been about a week so far under the jurisdiction of Prime Communications, and to tell you the truth, I'm not liking it very much. In fact, the first day (October 1st, 2006) proved to me just how much I won't like it: harsher quotas based on a very unfair point system, chargeback periods of 6 months, a very unhelpful upper management, and a much lower pay. Currently there is no sales manager in my store (since it would have been my position, but I resigned that on my on volition since I needed more time to dedicate to school so I could finally finish and get my B.S. in Computer Science), my regional manager has had to fill those shoes and has not properly trained me on proper store proceedures (particularly in paperwork handling). Moreover, the pricing structure of the products have been anything but easy to remember. There is like 4 prices on the cell phones that we have to remember, then accessories have 2 different prices... Overall, I am not very impressed with this new company in the way they've handled things so far, but I guess that is to be expected from a company that has never opened up shop in California before. All I can say, though, is that I am looking elsewhere. The bad thing is is that they will be losing what even my former employer, Pacifica, considered a valuable asset: my knowledge of the Cingular system and the phones themselves. I have started on the construction a private Cingular knowledge base which will hopefully house nearly all the information that I have gained since starting to work here, but I know I could never post that information out on the Internet due to the risk of a hefty lawsuit - just in case I ever do decide to come back (most likely not though).
